I saw this a while back on BillionGraves – Gravestone Cleaning 101: https://blog.billiongraves.com/2019/04/24/gravestone-cleaning-101/.

As I mentioned in this blog post – The Very First Thing You Should Do Before Cleaning Headstones or Doing Anything with a Cemetery Plot – Tombstone Tuesdays April 21, 2019, find out from the cemetery what they allow and don’t allow when it comes to cleaning headstones and doing anything with a grave. Many cemeteries have rules against doing anything with a headstone or grave; these rules and regulations may or may not be posted in the cemetery. Plus, you may find yourself facing civil and/or criminal charges if you don’t check with the cemetery first. It doesn’t matter that it’s a headstone or grave of a family member.
