Dalby Database Minnesota – Tombstone Tuesdays May 7, 2019

A friend introduced me to the Dalby Database: http://www.dalbydata.com/user.php?action=cemsearch. It is specific to Minnesota and while it has many cemetery records, it also misses a fair amount. It’s probably one of the most complete databases on Minnesota cemeteries available. It also has some records for Civil War, Census, City Directory, Birth Records, Marriage Records, Newspaper Articles, People in Books, Church Records, Obituaries, Abbreviations, Our History.

For cemetery records, you can search by any combination of the following: Last Name, First Name, Date of Birth, Date of Death, Notes, Section. You can also do a partial search on these items. It is sometimes possible that you can use the codes (go with the codes in the cemetery field)  in this list to narrow down a specific cemetery – http://www.dalbydata.com/user.php?action=codelist.

There are some spelling errors although there aren’t many. The spelling errors can be a result of what is on the headstone, the cemetery records, or transcription errors. There are a few YouTube videos available by people who have used the database.
