Updated May 13, 2019 (last update as most of the sales end today) – removed LivingDNA as sale has ended; made other minor price changes as needed; updated May 8, 2019 – added FamilyTree DNA (FTDNA) Mother’s Day Sale, other minor price changes.
As I was going through updating Current May 2019 DNA Prices, I noticed several new Mother’s Day DNA Sales. These are the latest updates I have found from looking at the different DNA testing companies today. 23andMe hasn’t added a sale price for its $99 kit although it’s $199 test has been lowered to $169.
23andMe: https://www.23andme.com/ No sale as of May 13, 2019 for their Ancestry/Ethnicity Test, regular price $99 (Ancestry/Ethnicity Only). Their (Health + Ancestry/Ethnicity) test is on sale $169 through May 13, 2019, regular price $199. Same prices on Amazon.
AncestryDNA : https://www.ancestry.com/dna/ – sale price $59 (ends May 13, 2019) regular price $99.00 – been seeing $89 and $79 sale prices when I check on some days, but those usually only last one (1) day; Amazon https://www.amazon.com/s?field-keywords=ancestry+dna (sale price $69 – $89; regular price $99.00 – 119.00* – as of May 13, 2019).
FamilyTree DNA (FTDNA) – https://www.familytreedna.com/. Sale price $59.00 for FamilyFinder; mtFull Sequence sale price $149.00 ; regular price $79.00 for FamilyFinder and mtFull Sequence $199.00, $59.00 on Amazon FamilyFinder (free shipping): https://www.amazon.com/Family-Tree-DNA-Genetic-Ancestry/dp/B01NAQ1UCW?th=1. End date May 13, 2019.
FindMyPastDNA (they use LivingDNA kits – see LivingDNA below): https://www.findmypast.com/ancestry-dna-testing/ – sale price $59 each ends May 13, 2019 although it’s regular price $99 on LivingDNA; LivingDNA kits on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/3-Living-DNA-Ancestry-Test/dp/B07HWVRPNZ/ – available on Amazon – sale price varies daily, regular price $119.00 + $4.99 shipping.
Full Genomes Corporation (FGC) https://www.fullgenomes.com/ now has individual SNP tests What is a SNP? for $15 – https://www.fullgenomes.com/purchases/132/ (not an affiliate link).
Geno 2.0 Next – Other than the Amazon sale listed below, prices are about what they normally run. Helix, National Geographic, GroupOn, and Amazon (price varies a bit between the various links below) https://www.helix.com/shop/national-geographic-geno-2-next-generation/ $59.99 ** + another $40.00 if you need a Helix DNA kit as of May 13, 2019 if you need a Helix kit for an individual; regular price tends to run $149.95 or $199.95 which includes the Helix DNA kit cost – No word on when this sale price ends. If you order directly from National Geographic (Nat Geo) – regular price $99.95* (regular price varies between $149.95 to $199.00 or sometimes $199.95 on Nat Geo website; if the person has previously tested with Helix for any other DNA test, don’t order from Nat Geo as you are paying for a kit that you don’t need). Amazon sale price is $38.99* with free shipping (Amazon price current as of May 13, 2019; tends to go back to around $99.95 on a regular basis when a sale ends) and is cheaper if you need a Helix kit for a person due to free shipping that Amazon offers. Note: U. S. kits are processed by Helix (spit kit) and non-U.S. kits are processed by FamilyTree DNA (FTDNA) – cheek swab. Non-U.S. kits are showing an unavailable as of late September 2018 – no word on when they will become available again.
Not as useful since National Geographic (Nat Geo) now uses Helix to process their kits and the limited amount of DNA results shown make it difficult to do comparisons. Maybe one day Helix will provide more DNA data for Geno 2.0 Next or at least provide the raw data free on the Helix site.
LivingDNA https://www.livingdna.com/ regular price is $99 (price as of May 13, 2019). Cheaper if you use the FindMyPast DNA link above as it’s only $59 and they use the LivingDNA test.
MyHeritageDNA https://www.myheritage.com/dna – Mother’s Day Sale: sale price $69 (through May 13, 2019) free shipping if you order 2+ kits in a single order. Amazon for $59.00* (with deal) with free shipping and FTDNA’s Amazon (see above) price may be cheaper so check both places. GroupOn: https://www.groupon.com/deals/n-myheritage-dna-kit sale price $55.00 as of May 13, 2019. MyHeritageDNA accepts free limited transfers from FTDNA as well as from AncestryDNA, LivingDNA, and 23andMe (including v5 chip now).
