I won’t mention the blogger by name or blog URL. A comment on social media challenged the blogger to include a company in a post to avoid appearing biased. The blogger‘s response was something to the effect they didn’t support or trust the company and wouldn’t. I support the blogger based on what I know of their personal convictions.
Before I continue, everybody is biased on something. Some people more so than others. I have people telling me they are unbiased about anything. I give them an example and suddenly if they are being honest, they admit bias.
Years ago, a supervisor wouldn’t attend a meeting because of where it was being held. I supported his decision. It may have cost him promotion opportunities.
There are times to take a stand. One of my supervisors used the phrase “That’s not a hill I want to die on” when referring to battles she didn’t think were worth fighting. Some battles are worth and should be fought, but others aren’t worth the cost.
