I don’t normally pay a lot of attention to the Stats page for WordPress. As other bloggers point out, it can be meaningless. A good example is the title of this post Rhetorical Question – How Many WordPress Followers Do You Have? Depends on Where You Look.
There are several places to look. In order I thought of them 1) top of the Stats page; 2) click on the Followers tab for 1); 3) click on the E-mail Followers tab for 2), 4) number of e-mail Followers listed on your blog if you have e-mail sign-up on your home page, and 5) Blog search using the Reader. Lately, I average low 60s to low 80s for unique visitors with between 1.5 to 2.0 views/visitor.
Using my blog as of earlier today:
- Stats page Followers 202
- Followers tab 197 Followers
- E-mail Followers tab 5 Followers (total is 202 if combined with Followers tab total)
- E-mail Followers (click on your blog’s URL if you have an e-mail sign-up section visible on your blog) I have 793 following by e-mail plus myself.
- blog search on WordPress 197 Followers
I know compared to some WordPress blogs, the number seem like a lot, and compared to other WordPress blogs, I’m a little fish in a big pond. I haven’t done a detailed analysis, but I have looked at some of the bloggers I follow; the number of Followers that show on the Reader range from 2 to well over 10,000.
