Conflicting Participant Numbers Between Geno 2.0 Next on Two Different Sections of Their Website

Once I was able to get my passwords reset for National Geographic’s Geno 2.0 and Geno 2.0 Next, I saw the following participant number after logging into both accounts:

1 of 992,092 participants

It took a while for them to send me new password links or I would have used the above participant number instead of the below number.

If you saw my post earlier today – 23andMe Hits 10 million DNA Customers, you would notice I quoted:

903,543 participants in the Genographic Project in over 140 countries.

The lower number is from the link: https://shop.nationalgeographic.com/collections/geno-2-0-dna-ancestry-kit-usa-delivery.

I am going to guess the number on the shop page isn’t updated as often as the participant number on my account page.
