Forgiving Yourself – Forgiveness Sundays March 31, 2019

For this week’s Forgiveness Sundays, I decided to focus on the one person many people often have the hardest time forgiving – yourself.

You can’t change the past, but you can learn from the mistakes you made in the past. A quote often attributed to Albert Einstein defines insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I don’t dwell on the past, thinking how I wish I could go back and do something different. I do dwell on the past to help me learn where I made mistakes and then work to not commit those same mistakes in the future.

It’s important to recognize the mistakes you made as sometimes we focus on something we thought was a mistake, but if we examined it closer, we would realize that it wasn’t a mistake. Same goes for lessons learned. Sometimes, we come up with a lesson learned, but it’s not the only lesson to be learned from the mistake. Or, worse, we learn the wrong lesson from a mistake.
