Frozen Dead Guy Days – 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐑 πŸ–ππ‘, πŸ—ππ‘, & 𝟏𝟎𝐭𝐑, πŸπŸŽπŸπŸ—

(Warning: post may contain puns, intentional or unintentional and it does talk about a frozen dead guy) Frozen Dead Guy Days (FDGD) – March 8 – 10, 2019 (according to their Twitter page) you may remember me bringing it up July 2018 in a blog post about the Thresher Show held in Bird City, Kansas. I also lived in Nederland, Colorado many years ago, but that was before this festival was started. You can visit Frozen Dead Guy on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/frozendeadguydays/ or on Twitter at https://twitter.com/frzndeadguydays. This will be the 18th year of the event and as they mention on http://frozendeadguydays.org/about-the-festival:

Known as one of the most unique and quirky festivals in the country, Frozen Dead Guy Days takes place in the Colorado mountain town of Nederland β€” three days of frosty merriment featuring 30 live bands in heated super tents and outrageous events like coffin racing, costumed polar plunging, frozen t-shirt contests and much more.

Nominated for https://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-cultural-festival-2019/frozen-dead-guy-days-nederland-colo/. You can vote once/day through March 11, 2019.

Event Schedule (checked February 28, 2019): https://frozendeadguydays.org/event-schedule.

Coffin Race (from above schedule – most notable snafu on course – that should be a category for any race):

  • Prizes awardedΒ Β for best time team, runner up time team, best theme, and most notable snafu on course

You can check out FDGD on YouTube as well: this was what I pulled up on July 16, 2018: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9Ql3OeXZ8k&feature=youtu.be.

You can learn more about Nederland on Twitter: https://twitter.com/townofned; on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NederlandChamberofCommerce/?ref=br_rs or https://www.facebook.com/NederlandTownHall/?ref=br_rs; or their website: https://nederlandco.org/.

If you are dying to get some FDGD memorabilia, check out http://frozendeadguydays.org/shop (not an affiliate link). After all, who can resist items like Rise from the Dead Coffee ($12.00; 12 oz. of whole bean, fair trade coffee roasted at Nederland’s own Salto Coffee Works. Sumatra and Mexican blend; medium roast):Β  http://frozendeadguydays.org/product/deadly-grounds-coffee or Awaken Hot Sauce ($8.00; ingredients: Blueberries, HabaΓ±eros, Scallions, Orange Juice, White Wine Vinegar, Olive Oil, Water, Brown Sugar, Salt): http://frozendeadguydays.org/product/awaken-hot-sauce. There are things like beach towels, t-shirts, hoodies, and other mundane stuff as well.

Pretty sure talking about Frozen Dead Guy Days and Thresher Show puts me in the eclectic category since how many other bloggers do you know that have done that? I haven’t checked, but I can’t imagine too many would cover both subjects, and that’s not counting the Genealogy, Bipolar Depression, Mental Health, Mental Illness, DNA, History, First Nations (aka Native Americans), Military History, World War II, Crowdfunding, Authors/Writers, and Cemeteries items I cover.

Not an affiliate link, but FDGD does have a link to https://www.tuffshed.com/ (you will get the reference if you are familiar with the festival or hunt around the FDGD website).

I will add more as it gets closer to the event, but plan on scheduling this blog post for March 1, 2019.
