Scheduling Blog Posts

It’s Monday night as I write this, but initially scheduling it for Wednesday evening, hair over 48 hours from when I started this post. I am in the middle of scheduling blog posts for the next two days when I wrote and scheduled this post.

I try for eight (8) blog posts/day. Timed to be posted (U. S. Central Time) at 8:08 A. M., 10:10 A. M., Noon, 2:02 P. M., 4:04 P. M., 6:06 P. M., 8:08 P. M., and 10:10 P. M. There are exceptions. As part of the mix, I also try for two (2) blog re-posts / shares and one (1) vlog  re-vlog / share. I try to space those between other posts. The nice thing about scheduling is I can always move a post to a later day and time if something else comes up that I want to focus on timely. In a few cases, I may go ahead and post an item as soon as I learn about it if it’s something that’s time sensitive or important. In most cases, I adjust whatever the next scheduled post was to a different day and time. I also look for bloggers / vloggers I haven’t covered mixed with bloggers / vloggers I have covered.

I also do my best to cover different topics as I schedule. It can vary as it’s not always easy to find some topics and much easier to find other topics.

In terms of topic days, so far I have Gaming Sundays, Mississippi Mondays, Featured Vlogger of the Week – usually Tuesdays, but sometimes Wednesdays, Weirdness Wednesdays, and FindMyPast Fridays and Featured Blogger of the Week Fridays.  Tuesdays frequently include something cemetery or graveyard related. I am working on scheduling a Kansas day, but none of the days start with K or C – open to suggestions even if the day is in a foreign language.

I strive for scheduled posts because it’s winter time and my home Internet access is my cell phone. Not the best choice for scheduling most posts. I have used my phone a couple of times, but I often have to correct issues that I didn’t notice when scheduling a post on my phone. When I am able to get out – friends’ house, my favorite Wi-Fi cafe, or my historical and genealogical society, or someplace else, I prefer to schedule posts from those locations. My car is still down which means I rely on my bicycle for getting to and from most of the places. Winter has been fairly mild this season, but it’s supposed to get nasty on Tuesday, February 18, 2019 and possibly later in the week.
