I used #5 a few months ago after getting a credit card gift certificate that charges a fee for each month you have a balance. As soon as I got it, I purchased an Amazon Gift Certificate for $35, the amount on the credit card.

Some of the items only make sense if the value exceeds what you pay. In my case, I rarely use Amazon to buy things and go for the free shipping option that many items include. It may take a few extra days to arrive, but I don’t spend enough on Amazon to make Prime a good deal for me. Also, I don’t believe in giving money to authors for ebooks that I don’t get to keep. Amazon gives the author a small amount of money for each page you read using Prime or Kindle Unlimited. But you don’t get a copy of the ebook if you read the whole book on those two services. If I want the ebook that bad, I will wait until it goes on sale or see if my local library has the book or ebook I can check out.
