Don’t Lower cMs Below Recommended Levels – DNA

I am going to jump on the don’t lower the centiMorgans (cMs) below the recommended levels and this applies to GEDmatch, FamilyTree DNA (FTDNA), and any other DNA company or third party tool/app that lets you set cMs. And yes, I am well aware that GEDmatch assumes that 7 cMs segments with 700 or more SNPs is always a valid matching segment. However, I have seen enough experts point out the odds of a 7 cM segment being a false positive and at least some experts put 7 cM segments at being more likely to be a false positive than a true positive.
