What the Right Exposure Can Do for Crowdfunding

If you don’t think the right exposure for a crowdfunding campaign doesn’t help, I point you to https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/zackdangerbrown/potato-salad. End result $55,492 pledged of $10 goal with 6,911 backers. This may not be the most successful campaign ever, but in terms of exceeding its goal, it’s high on the list: http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/324283889/potato-salad/.

What helped with this campaign was exposure by CNET, a popular tech site: https://www.cnet.com/news/guys-kickstarter-dream-making-potato-salad-possibly-with-dill/ (July 3, 2014); https://www.cnet.com/news/internet-eats-up-silly-potato-salad-kickstarter/ (July 7, 2014); and https://www.cnet.com/news/kickstarters-potato-salad-analysis-reveals-making-of-a-legend/ (August 2014).

There are other crowdfunding campaigns that went well above the stated goals: for example, https://www.kickstarter.com/discover/most-funded and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest_funded_crowdfunding_projects.
