Gaming Sunday December 16, 2018

AS ALWAYS, CHECK PRICES BEFORE ORDERING as sales can end or change before I update them. Also, some sales only have so many items or keys available for purchase so the sale ends as soon as they run out of items or keys. None of the links below are affiliate links!

Week 11 of Gaming Sunday Week – will do my best to try and update daily or as needed. The quote below is from my first Gaming Sunday Week post: Gaming Sunday Week of September 30, 2018.

While I will post gaming stuff (RPGs, Wargames, Board Games, Card Games, Computer/Console Games) at other times during the week, I decided to start doing a Gaming Sunday Weekly Post. Among other things, it will include Bundle of Holding (https://bundleofholding.com – generally 3 – 5 bundles active at a time) and Humble Bundle (https://www.humblebundle.com/ – generally around 5 – 6 bundles active, not including the tons of other sale items that aren’t bundles and a number of bundles that exceeds what I can add here without making it longer than it’s worth) items in this post; some of which won’t be gaming related. I will update the post during the week as bundles go off sale and new bundles come on sale. I won’t be including all of the sale items on Humble Bundle as it can easily exceed a reasonable amount. The good news is you can save an item that has been on sale to a Wish List and you will be notified if and when it comes on sale again. For example, this game was recently on sale: https://www.humblebundle.com/store/search?sort=bestselling&search=mordor – it requires a birthdate if you click on the only game in the list; the sale is over, but you can add it to your Wish List. I am a fan of Sid Meier’s Civilization computer games: https://www.humblebundle.com/store/search?sort=bestselling&search=civilization (note, not all of the games are for Sid Meier’s Civ series (about half of the games in the link are for Sid’s Civ series (ranging from Civilization III to Civilization VI – some are on sale and some aren’t).

I will also include any crowdsources that are gaming related, from Kickstarter, Patreon, IndieGoGo, GoFundMe, etc. For example, The Fantasy Trip by Steve Jackson on https://thefantasytrip.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders which was previously a Kickstarter project: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sjgames/the-fantasy-trip-old-school-roleplaying.

Axis and Allies – Zombie Edition:

Thanks to Noble Knight – https://www.nobleknight.com/P/2147736548/Axis-and-Allies—Zombies for sending me an e-mail about this latest version of Axis and Allies, a World War II board game with numerous editions, including unofficial ones on sites like: http://www.historicalboardgaming.com/ – see http://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Custom-Maps-Games_c_90.html for some examples.

Here’s the official Avalon Hill (AH) site for the game: http://avalonhill.wizards.com/games/axis-and-allies/zombies. And here’s AH’s Rules PDF for the game: http://media.wizards.com/2018/ah/AAZ-Rulebook.pdf

BackerKit: https://www.backerkit.com/ (for creators and backers of projects) If you backed a project, you can find it at https://www.backerkit.com/are_you_a_backer and some of the companies allow you to pre-order even if you didn’t back a game.

The Fantasy Trip BackerKit: https://thefantasytrip.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders/ – ended November 1, 2018. This is a follow-up to The Fantasy Trip Kickstarter project: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sjgames/the-fantasy-trip-old-school-roleplaying. Keeping it here for now as an example. Working on trying to find a good replacement as several should be showing up in Backerkit soon.

World of Warcraft Diary: if you go to https://thewowdiary.backerkit.com/, it will include the following link for those who didn’t back it: https://thewowdiary.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders. You can also view the campaign at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/whenitsready/the-world-of-warcraft-diary-0

The World of Warcraft Diary

If you missed Kickstarter’s most-funded nonfiction book in history, you can order it here! The WoW Diary was written by the game’s first level designer and covers the story behind making Vanilla WoW. With over 130 behind-the-scenes images and 336 full-color pages, it is the must-have book about game development.

Cyberpunk 2020: https://bundleofholding.com/presents/Cyberpunk2018

Support Charity:

Ten percent of each payment (after payment gateway fees) for these two Cyberpunk 2020 offers will be donated to the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Edgerunner! The ripperdocs have heroically revived our June 2017 Cyberpunk 2020 Bundle featuring the 1993 Second Edition of Mike Pondsmith‘s vintage tabletop roleplaying game of the dark future, Cyberpunk 2020 from R. Talsorian Games. This world of corporate assassins, heavy metal heroes, and brainburning cyberhackers inspired the forthcoming CD Projekt Red videogame Cyberpunk 2077. Warm up your cyberwear and faxprinter, grab your mirrorshades and Dai Lung Magnum, tell the ripperdoc to stand by, and hit Night City’s mean streets and hot clubs in the unimaginably faraway future of AD 2020.

For just US$14.95 you get all six titles in this offer’s Player Collection (retail value $48) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks:

  • Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0 Second Edition (retail $15): The core rulebook for this quintessentially ’90s RPG of high-tech lowlifes.
  • Four role guides (total retail $27) adding options for individual character classes: Solo of Fortune (mercenaries), Protect & Serve (law enforcement), Wild Side (fixers), and Rockerboy (rock’n’roll will never die!).
  • Blackhand’s Street Weapons 2020 (retail $6): The big book of guns and every kind of armament.

And if you pay more than this offer’s threshold price of $30.19 (Threshold Level as of December 18, 2018), you’ll level up and also get this offer’s entire Referee Collection with eleven more supplements worth an additional $101.50:

  • Night City (retail $9): One of the best city sourcebooks for Cyberpunk or any modern-day RPG, this jam-packed 180-page sourcebook covers Cyberpunk‘s signature urban sprawl.
  • Three 2020 worldbooks (total retail $23) looking at life on the edge outside the US: Pacific Rim Sourcebook, Eurosource Plus, and Rough Guide to the UK.
  • All four Chrome supplements (total retail $25): These trendsetting styleguides to the equipment and fashion of 2020 were called “Chromebooks” before we got laptops.
  • Deep Space (retail $8): Escape the polluted Earth for the high frontier of Paradise Station, Chryse Base, and beyond.
  • Rache Bartmoss’s Guide to the Net (retail $9): Rache Bartmoss (the world’s greatest netrunner) is dead — which finally gives him time to write this acerbic gonzo-journalist tour of the information superhighway.
  • Land of the Free and Home of the Brave (total retail $20.50): Two linked supplements on fallen America. Home of the Brave covers NPCs, plot hooks, and more from this fractured union. Land of the Free presents a sprawling road-trip campaign.
  • Listen Up, You Primitive Screwheads! (retail $7): The unexpurgated Cyberpunk referee’s guide with some of the best GM advice for this or any RPG.

And this Cyberpunk 2020 Bundle is no longer a Solo. Check out our all-new companion offer, Cyberpunk Boost, with another data hoard of rulebooks and supplements.

We are a small board game store based in Inverness, Scotland.

We have been a big member of the board game and trading card game community over the last 3 years.

We have seen our share of hardships and issues in setting up the store. after 3 years of operating we have now hit a tipping point of what to do next.

We are looking to secure fund for refurbishment and upgrade of the gaming space and to help us invest in developing our stock range.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent since the hospital opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent, and we won’t stop until no child dies from cancer. St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

Indiegogo Projects: mostly Gaming related: https://www.indiegogo.com/

Convergence – a Star Trek Fan Film Indiegogo Campaign: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/convergence-a-star-trek-fan-film#/. Ended November 3, 2018. $7,385 of $5,500 pledged (fully  backed as of November 2, 2018). Will keep up pending updates on Backerkit.
According to https://fanfilmfactor.com/2018/10/27/convergence-releases-one-of-the-best-crowd-funding-videos-ive-ever-seen/, this is the secondprise (their word, not mine) “ask” video they have ever seen:
This 3-minute vignette is now my second favorite crowd-funding “ask” video ever.  Why is it my second favorite?  Well, nothing will likely ever surpass this video (and the four that came after it) from Star Trek Continues‘ “Kirkstarter 2.0.”  But the reason this Convergence video gets the secondprise (get it?), is because it has so much fun while asking folks to donate.
They recommend bookmarking it if you plan on any sort of crowdfunding/sourcing campaign.

Fairytale the Roleplaying Game Indiegogo Project: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/fairytale-the-roleplaying-game/x/19581145#/. I gave more information in this blog post: Fairytale the Roleplaying Game on Indiegogo. The project owner shows Oulu, Finland for location. Ended November 9, 2018 unfunded. Hopefully, they will bring it back as it sounded like a promising RPG.

Kickstarter Projects – Gaming Related for the most part, but will include non-gaming related items at times (frequently, shipping costs are NOT included if you back a project – so factor those into your budget): https://www.kickstarter.com/

Chimera Comics Cellar Door Sci-Fi and Horror Graphic Novel Anthology: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/chimerascomics/cellar-door-a-scifi-and-horror-graphic-novel-antho/ (sci-fi and horror collection, parental guidance advised). $8,477 pledged of $11,000 by 160 backers of campaign (as of November 23, 2018). Not mentioned in the article is the Live Stream October 31, 2018 about the campaign; you can get a free preview (link is a bit down the Kickstarter page, or try https://mailchi.mp/chimerascomics.com/look-in-the-cellar – link shows as http://bit.ly/lookinthecellar which redirects to the Mail Chimp link I added). If you pledged $20 or more in the first 72 hours of the campaign, then you get an exclusive item, 8.5″ x 11″ print (shipping is another $2 for U.S. addresses):

It’s so important for Kickstarters to have a strong start. Nothing draws a crowd like a crowd, and a lot of pledges in the first few days tells Kickstarter this is a project worth endorsing. Plus it helps us access special Stretch Goals and Milestone Bonuses to make this project even better.

That’s why we’re offering an Early Bird Bonus. This Kickstarter Exclusive Art print features the surrealist horror of visionary artist and “Cellar Door” creator Samuel Diaz. And this bonus is yours FREE but only if you back in the first three days of the campaign.

If you pledge $99 or more, you get your name in one of the stories.

You can sign up for information. When I signed up a while back, today’s e-mail included a link to 25% of the comic as a lure to get people to pledge (link included above in the first paragraph).

Thousand Year Old Vampire Kickstarter RPG Campaign: Late Backers accepted (still available as of December 18, 2018) https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/timh/thousand-year-old-vampire-a-roleplaying-game Ended November 16, 2018 1:15 AM CST. Fully funded: $37,102 pledged by 1,423 backers of $500 goal. Several F-bombs in the Kickstarter description although that’s because one of the items available if you back at $35 or higher is a LARP book with it in the title.

The game mechanics are simple and intuitive. Play progresses semi-randomly through a book of Prompts which let you explore your vampire’s wants and needs, resolve problems, and chart the decline into senescence. Play can happen entirely within the character sheet or can become a journaling activity–both work equally well.

Vampires, for the purposes of this game, can mean nearly anything that is functionally immortal, doesn’t like daylight, and preys on humans for sustenance. I like Montague Summers-type vampires myself, but this system is designed to be flexible.

All you need is the book or PDF, a d10, and a d6. This is a solo game for you to play in lonely places wrapped in darkness, but can be played multiplayer if you like. Play can take from one to three hours, depending on how you go about things.

Chibi Siblings of Conflict Kickstarter Campaign: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/674003445/chibi-siblings-of-conflict-miniatures. It’s an unusual concept for an RPG (“A game of teenage rebellion and murder in a fantastical 50s that never was” – from the Kickstarter campaign), but you can get a free quick preview from DriveThru RPG (DTRPG): https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/256782/Americana–Preview-Quickplay-Pack?manufacturers_id=7386. You can also download the file at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1lpbN1YtyQ9J2yhGLtEfi43JjI9PqD9Hd.

From the DTRPG link:

Americana is an RPG set in a fantasy, inclusive 1950s small town, somewhere in the United States. Your best friend is dead, and you think it’s murder. Gather their other friends, follow the clues and investigate your town full of magic, wonder, gangs and risks to track down the killer and bring them to justice. Take control of one of 6 archetypes (Jock, Nerd, Outsider, New Kid, Artist, Royal) each with their own unique strengths and abilities, build Your Dead Friend, the victim of this murder, whose abilities and inspiration will aid you in discovering the truth behind their grisly fate, and build an incredible, magical town full of fantasy and wonder to explore.

The game takes place in a 50s vastly different than the one we’re used to. For a start, the world is full of magic. Orcs and Dwarves are going steady at the drive-in, Elves and Dragons are taking a trip to Look-out Point and your principal is a kindly skeleton that fought against Charlemagne. The world is also massively more progressive than the 50s ever was, systemic oppression of marginalized people is an alien concept in the world of Americana.

This is a free quickplay set that shows off some of the systems and world of Americana and hopefully get you excited for the full product. It includes just about everything you need to get started with your own murder mystery – some small lore details, character sheets and a stripped back version of the full rules.

If this catches your interest, Americana is already 100% funded on Kickstarter, so head on over and check out some of our reward tiers and stretch goals – which include a super sentai, power rangers inspired twist on the core setting and rules!

Bunnies and Barrows 3rd Edition Kickstarter: Campaign has ended; should be a Backerkit added in the near future; may be a bit as they are going to conventions soon. I posted about it at https://upsdownsfamilyhistory.wordpress.com/2018/10/09/bunnies-and-barrows-3rd-edition-rpg-kickstarter/. Fully funded with over $36,403 (785 backers) pledged for a $12,000 campaign. Leaving the link below active for now. Campaign ended, but will keep it up for when they open the Backerkit portion.

You can find the Kickstarter campaign for 3rd edition Bunnies and Burrows RPG at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/froggodgames/bunnies-and-burrows. It ends October 25, 2018 1:01 AM.

Have you ever wanted to play a role-playing game (RPG) where you were a rabbit,  raccoon, squirrel, chipmunk, skunk, porcupine, opossum, jackrabbit, or armadillo? If so, Bunnies and Burrows (B&B) 3rd edition is the RPG for you. There is a Wikipedia article on the earlier editions of B&B: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunnies_%26_Burrows.

Bunnies and Burrows has been a niche market since its first introduction in 1976 (2nd edition still available as a PDF on DriveThru RPG/DTRPGhttps://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/82542/Bunnies-And-Burrows?term=bunnies&test_epoch=0 for $5.00, but it has stayed popular in its niche. I have never played the game, but it was put out by one of my favorite gaming companies, Fantasy Games Unlimited (FGU): https://www.fantasygamesunlimited.net/, who also published: Aftermath! (post-World War III RPG), Bushido (Feudal Japan RPG originally published by two other gaming companies), Chivalry and Sorcery (C&S, fantasy RPG, 1st and 2nd editions published by FGU with 3rd and 4th editions published by two other gaming companies – FGU also published numerous supplements that added new elements to the game), Daredevils (pulp magazine RPG), Merc (modern mercenary/counter-insurgency RPG), Privateers and Gentlemen (piracy themed RPG), Space Opera (sci-fi RPG), Swordbearer (fantasy RPG, originally published by another gaming company), Villains and Vigilantes (V&V, superhero RPG), plus a host of other RPGs and board games. FGU published a second edition several years later. The 2nd edition was later modified by Steve Jackson Games and published as a GURPS supplement which is still available as a PDFhttp://www.warehouse23.com/products/gurps-classic-bunnies-and-burrows and https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/231815/GURPS-Classic-Bunnies–Burrows for $7.99 on both sites.

The latest incarnation of Bunnies and Burrows was taken over by another gaming company that released a B&B Light version https://froggodgames.com/frogs/product-category/bunnies-burrows/ (free PDF also available on DTRPGhttps://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/226680/Bunnies–Burrows-Light which is also the gaming company behind the Kickstarter campaign.

DNA of the Greatest Warriors in History Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/altavilla/dna-of-the-greatest-warriors-in-historynot gaming related although an argument could be made that warriors are RPG and Wargaming related. Death Wears Bunny Slippers (DWBS): https://www.patreon.com/dwbs. Occasional F-bombs and other profanity in the videos. I mention DWBS on occasion as he’s an interesting guy and it’s on my Bucket List to own an old missile silo if I ever get the chance. If nothing else, I hope to visit his silo one day.
