When I checked on prices a few minutes ago, I saw that 23andMe was having a Black Friday Sale: https://www.23andme.com/. Ancestry + Ethnicity sale price $69.00, regular price $99.00. Ancestry + Ethnicity + Health Reports sale price $129.00, regular price $199.00. Offer ends November 25, 2018, 9 P. M. U. S. Pacific Time.
It’s a shame that 23andMe doesn’t get the concept that offering a better sale for most of November for their $99.00 tests, then offering a worse sale on the same kits for Black Friday is a very bad idea. Through November 22, 2018, you could order 2+ Ancestry + Ethnicity kits from 23andMe for $49.00 each, If you only ordered one kit, the price was $69.00 which is the current Black Friday Sale price regardless of how many kits you order.
Unfortunately, they aren’t the only DNA company to fall in a bad marketing plan for Black Friday. The smarter move would have to at least kept the Buy 2+ kits for $49.00 each and add some kind of sale price for the $199.00 kits.
Another company, LivingDNA – https://livingdna.com/, made a slightly different marketing mistake. They announced a $69.00 Black Friday Sale, but left out one key tidbit that made it a better deal if you order 2+ kits: the price drops to $59.00 each. I found out from an e-mail that hinted at a better price if you order multiple kits in a single order, but didn’t say how much the discount would be. I started an order, added a second kit, and the price dropped to $59.00 each. If you only need one (1) LivingDNA kit, it’s better to consider ordering from FindMyPastDNA – https://www.findmypast.com/, as its Black Friday Sale is $59.00 and doesn’t have a minimum number of kits to get the sale price. They use LivingDNA to process their kits.
