When Ruta’s daughter moved halfway around the world from Estonia, she kept asking her mom for recipes for the dishes she was missing. The result is Estonian Cuisine, an introduction to the Baltic state’s culinary culture.

I went to Tallinn, Estonia back in 2005 on a half-day side trip from Helsinki, Finland My trip to Helsinki was part of an international conference that was being held in Helsinki. I didn’t try any native Estonian dishes as I was on a very tight budget.

I did find a good World War II book written by an Estonian soldier that was in English.
