23andMe Removed the New DNA Testing Option, But the Link From Earlier Still Works

Sometime between yesterday and today, 23andMe removed the new DNA testing option from their main page. If you want to order it, they are still showing it on this link https://www.23andme.com/dna-lite/?lh1=true as unavailable, but giving you the more expensive $199 DNA testing option for the same price of $169. The Health Lite + Ancestry Service only offers 40 reports so this is a good deal as you will get all 90+ reports of the more expensive test for $30 less.

Great News!

You’ve been upgraded to our Health + Ancestry Service at no additional cost since the service you selected (Health Lite + Ancestry Service) is currently unavailable. Please note that you will receive all 90+ reports, but you can opt out of receiving your Carrier Status* and Genetic Health Risk* reports. We encourage you to review relevant information about Carrier Status* and Genetic Health Risk* reports in the link below.

If you have been following this strange tale, you can start with 23andMe Adds Third DNA Testing Option – Health Lite + Ancestry Service $169, which was updated with Update on New 23andMe Test Option, and now this blog post.

Anyone wanting to guess how long before they sort this out? I figure probably another couple of posts as their present rate. Thankfully, I saved the above link to the test or I wouldn’t have known it still works. Note: I only clicked on add the test to Shopping Cart, but didn’t complete the order.
