Update #2: 23andMe removed the testing option from their main page, but the link to it still works, but they offer the $199 test for a discount of $169 since the $169 is unavailable. That’s 90+ reports for the price of 40 reports. You can read more on my latest blog post 23andMe Removed the New DNA Testing Option, But the Link From Earlier Still Works and still worked as of September 28, 2018.
Update #1: Appears the new test isn’t available yet so they are discounting the $199 test to $169 temporarily. I also made a new blog post with the update: Update on New 23andMe Test Option. The link https://www.23andme.com/dna-ancestry/?lh1=true is the direct link to ordering the $169 test.
You’ve been upgraded to our Health + Ancestry Service at no additional cost since the service you selected (Health Lite + Ancestry Service) is currently unavailable. Please note that you will receive all 90+ reports, but you can opt out of receiving your Carrier Status* and Genetic Health Risk* reports. We encourage you to review relevant information about Carrier Status* and Genetic Health Risk* reports in the link below.
When I went to 23andMe – https://www.23andme.com/ today, I noticed they now offer a third DNA testing option. In the past, they only offered Ancestry Only – https://www.23andme.com/dna-ancestry/?lh1=true, regular price $99 and Ancestry + Health, regular price $199. Today, they split Ancestry + Health into two separate tests: Health Lite + Ancestry Service – https://www.23andme.com/dna-lite/?lh1=true, regular price $169 – 40 personalized genetic reports about your: Ancestry, Wellness, Traits; and Health + Ancestry Service – https://www.23andme.com/dna-health-ancestry/?lh1=true, regular price $199 – 90+ personalized genetic reports about your: Ancestry, Wellness, Traits, Genetic Health Risk*, Carrier Status*.
I will update this post when I learn more about the new testing option. Update: I posted the information in several Facebook groups as well as contacting a few DNA bloggers to get the word out. I will be linking to any bloggers who have more information about the new testing option as
