Bit of lightheartedness in this blog post. The following is a free sci-fi RPG PDF available at DriveThruRPG (DTRPG). I’m am including a description from the link:
In 2097, the Hevig class Star Freighter “THE BIGGUN” lost all power to its systems. With only 24 hours left to live, Star Captain T. J. Birke did what any sane man would do…
He wrote a roleplaying game.
Contained within these pages is a 95.34% accurate reproduction of the captain’s hand-written* scrawls, salvaged from his ship and released to the public for the first time.
* Yes, he used a pen. It’s a shock to us too!
http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/114499/Drifting-Through-Space–A-Free-SciFi-RPG (mild to moderate profanity in a few places; I didn’t read the whole 30 pages, but did see a few profanities in the book).
Best to treat this as a tongue-in-cheek effort, but there may be some good ideas in it if you want to check it out.
If I were on a starship, or anywhere else for that matter, with only 24 hours to live, I’m confident that writing a role-playing game (RPG) is way down the list of things I will focus on doing. I would think there are more important and saner things to do than writing a RPG in the last day of one’s life.
Here’s the Table of Contents and be warned it is not typed, but looks to be handwritten as opposed to typed or word-processed, probably in keeping with the theme of the story:
Contents (30 pages long):
Chapter I Introduction
Chapter II Character Creation
Chapter III Doing Stuff
Chapter IV Dramatic Situations!
Chapter V Baddies
Chapter VI Experience
Chapter VII Story Ideas
Appendix Character Sheet
