Mother’s Day 2018 DNA Sales

Updated May 14, 2018: Updated to include what may be the last of the Mother’s Day Sale discounts which is 25% off of some HomeDNA kits – don’t know if it’s across the board, but it does appear to include more than the initial discount in an earlier e-mail. Updated to add DNAFit’s sale price if you transfer your raw data from 23andMe (basically $49 if you transfer your results using the promo code). Updated Promethease from free upload to regular price upload as the free upload ended May 10, 2018. Added promo code to HomeDNA (appears to only apply to the Healthy Weight 3 in 1 test) and updated Geno 2.0 with lower price. Updated May 7, 2018: Added promo code to TeloYears and Living DNA sections below; uBiome sale is over so updated prices to reflect; also added Ancestry DNA (Canada) sale price – good through May 8, 2018. Updated May 5, 2018: Added the BillionGraves way to earn a free DNA kit from one of the major DNA testing companies; also Added the 30% discount e-mail to 23andMe and updated Helix sale prices; May 1, 2015: Added HomeDNA with transfer sale price of $19.00. As always, check Amazon, GroupOn, and EBay for prices as they are sometimes cheaper.

I posted about 23andMe’s Mother’s Day DNA Sale recently, but now FamilyTree DNA (FTDNA) and MyHeritage DNA have joined the Mother’s Day DNA Sale parade and several other DNA companies are offering sale prices that may or may not be Mother’s Day related..   When known, I included the end date for each company’s sale. Not all of the sales below are specifically Mother’s Day DNA Sales, but I am including the current prices, including DNA companies that aren’t offering sales right now.

You can find a variety of DNA companies in my Links section:

Here are the current Mother’s Day DNA Sales (as of April 29, 2018 – will change date if more companies join the parade between now and Mother’s Day).

23andMe –  23andMe announced in an e-mail their Mother’s Day Sale; sale ends May 13, 2018. It’s 20% off their regular price ($79.20 † or $159.20 †; regular price is $99 or $199), but if you buy 2 or more kits at regular price in one order, you get one kit free. NOTE: The free kit is going to be the less expensive one if you order a combination of three kits where two are $99 and the third is $199. Also, this is not a Buy 2, Get 1 Free deal in the sense of every 2 kits ordered translates into a free extra kit. If you order and pay full price for 6 kits in one order, you will get 1 free kit, not 2 or 3 kits. Haven’t heard if ordering separately gives the same discount for each order or if it’s a one-time only deal, but based on the wording below, it sounds like if you wanted 6 kits, ordering 3 kits in one order and 3 kits in a separate order would give you two free kits – one per order so you would only need to pay full price for 4 of the kits. Update May 5, 2018: 23andMe sent an e-mail link with 30% discount if you use the link; you can’t combine it with the 20% discount or the Buy 2 or more kits and get 1 free offer).

Buy any 23andMe kit and receive 20% off each kit, or, purchase any two (2) 23andMe kits at regular price and receive the third (3rd) kit, that is of equal or lesser value, for free. Customers can mix and match kits. The Buy 2 Kits and Get 1 Free offer can only be applied once per order, any additional kits will receive 20% off. Savings based on regular price per kit (Ancestry Service $99 / Health + Ancestry $199). Offer ends May 13, 2018.

HomeDNA – Promo Code: MOMSDAY25 (sale ends May 14, 2018)- appears to initially only apply to the Healthy Weight 3 in 1 kit although a newer e-mail makes it sound like you are able to apply it to some other tests (can’t be sure as I haven’t ordered with this sale). Transfer raw data results from some DNA companies (Ancestry DNA, FTDNA, 23andMe, or National Geographic Geno Project – sale price $19.00 use promo code ALG1999; regular price $39.00) Received an e-mail offering sale price of $79 (regular price $199), but it’s not showing the sale price on the company’s website unless I click on the e-mail link that has the sale price. Living DNA (not listed as a Mother’s Day DNA Sale, but it is on sale): $99 (regular price $159). Promo code MOMSDAY7 lowers the cost to $79.

MyHeritage DNA $59 (regular price is $99) – sale ends May 14, 2018.

uBiome – SPRINGCLEANING2018 code drops price to $89 for the 5 site test (regular price $399) – ends April 30, 2018. This isn’t a regular DNA test like many of the others. It checks 5 sites for bacterial DNA (mouth, skin, nose, genital, gut). I have taken this test in the past when it was on sale as I was curious as to what it would show. Sale over so regular prices ranging from $89 to $399.

Veritas Don’t see a DNA Day Sale price for Veritas, but here’s a link to their 30x read DNA kit: It appears to be $999 for their 30x read based on what somebody who ordered the kit reported for pricing. For additional information, here’s a link to the company’s PDF:

WeGene WeGene – regular price or free upload of your 23andMe (including the latest v5 chips) or Ancestry raw data. – regular prices as YSEQ rarely does sales although they occasionally will do a sale. Will continue checking in case they do a sale for DNA Day. Prices range, depending on if you want an individual Y-DNA SNP or various STR ranges, mtDNA (several options) to a 15x read, 30xread, or 50xread full DNA test. 15x read: $740; 30x read: (+ $600 above 15x read price) ; 50x read: (+$1,430 above 15x read price) ; Other Extras (price is in addition to whatever read you order) add $90 if you want USB drive sent to you (otherwise, you can download your results through a link for no additional cost; Sanger extra Y-DNA results (up to 10 Y-DNA SNPs): $100; you receive 4 cheek swabs and you need to use all four and mail them back to YSEQ. Individual SNPs tend to run $18. YSEQ also offers Y-STR testing, mtDNA, and Haplogroup panels. It’s a good alternative to FTDNA in some ways, but doesn’t offer matching.
