FamilySearch Launches Two Mobile Apps – FamilySearch Tree and FamilySearch Memories

FamilySearch announced the release of two new mobile apps – FamilySearch Tree (Android and Apple devices) and FamilySearch Memories (Apple devices only for now). Suggest you read the Terms of Service for the app before downloading or using it. Recommend getting permission (written permission is best) before adding items of living relatives.

FamilySearch Tree

FamilySearch Tree offers a variety of abilities:

Browse branches of your family

Find family photos posted by others

Add stories and memories of family members

Share personal and family photos (read FamilySearch and the app’s rules on copyright and Terms of Service before adding photos)

Works with iOS 7+ (Apple) and Android 2.3+ devices.

At present, you cannot add or update family member details, but they expect it being available soon.

FamilySearch Memories

FamilySearch Memories includes the following abilities:

Take photos of family events or personal moments (recommend getting permission before posting them online)

Photograph old photos and documents (read FamilySearch and the app’s rules on copyright and Terms of Service before adding photos)

Record audio interviews of family members (again, ask permission before uploading online)

Write or record jokes, sayings, and family stories

Record or transcribe stories and add photos to stories

Tag and identify family members within a memory and add the tag automatically

Only available of iOS 7+ (Apple devices only) – will update when an Android app becomes available.
