Congratulations BillionGraves Hits 8 Million Photos and Records and 100,000 Members

Congratulations to BillionGraves for hitting 8 million photos and records and 100,000 members . They reached the 7 million mark in late March and I posted about it here. You can read the full details on the BillionGraves blog.

BillionGraves posted the update earlier today. Some stats from their blog post include 19,640 cemeteries with one or more records; 98 different countries; and 101,267 registered users. There were 2,430 users who took the last million photos and 3,841 users who transcribed the last million records. The 8 millionth photo was taken by Zsolt Pogány from Montreal, Canada and the 8 millionth record was transcribed by Nilou from Vllemoirieu, France.

For those not following BillionGraves, I mentioned their Million in May contest in a blog post earlier this month. The contest ends May 31st, but there is still plenty of time for people to get involved with it.

Check out the BillionGraves Facebook page. It includes a Cemetery of the Day (CotD) and the latest updates. They have been providing helpful hints for the contest.
