Disclaimer: I have been a member of Breakthrough since 1989. I am also a former employee, and was a member of Breakthrough’s Board of Directors for six years, including four years as Board Secretary.
Last month, Sedgwick County officials informed Breakthrough www.btcwichita.com it was losing all county funding next year. In 2013, the county provided $275,000 to Breakthrough. This was a major financial blow to Breakthrough. As mentioned in these articles, Breakthrough might have to shut down as a result of the lost funding.

Today, Breakthrough representatives met with Sedgwick County Commissioners. I wasn’t at the meeting, but the Commissioners voted to give $137,500, for next year. The amount is half of the amount removed from next year’s budget. I read about it on a friend’s Facebook page, but here’s an article published in the Wichita Business Journal online edition.
